Life Line to Motherhood (Paintings)
2022, acrylic on canvas, varied dimensions

The exhibition explores the journey into motherhood, emphasizing the enduring impact of societal expectations and the need to let go of self-imposed perfectionism. This series of paintings explores the beauty that can emerge from the challenging experiences, the humor often hidden within the chaos of raising young children, and the invaluable gift of slowing down to embrace a world of imagination.

The artist uses acrylic paintings on canvas to explore the theme of motherhood, drawing from the insights she has gained during this transformative life transition. In this exhibit, she examines themes of social isolation, the emergence of maternal rage, and the struggle between the need for nourishment and the temptation to numb. Her work highlights the tension between these opposing forces.

Motherhood can unexpectedly shift one’s center of gravity. This exhibition aims to explore the challenging questions that arise for a mother as she navigates these new waters, providing viewers with the opportunity to reflect on their own journeys

Everything in moderation, including moderation itself. 2025, Acrylic on Canvas

This piece is one of two that should be viewed side by side. It presents an ideal of motherhood shaped by both self-imposed and societal expectations.

Illustrating how one can navigate difficult situations while acknowledging the reality of existence, these two paintings invite the viewer to explore contrast. Between the ideal—an image of nourishment—and the one that caters to the taste buds for instant gratification. Motherhood embodies a delicate balance between the ideal and the immediate needs of the present moment, necessitating grace for the transitions in between.

There is a necessary softening and opening required to unconditionally love a child—a letting go of the bud to allow life to flourish in an offspring. It can be easier to remain closed, hardened, and numb; however, without this openness, light cannot enter. Motherhood brings a fragility that invites you to embrace the world like never before.
