Silent Chrome. In my interactions with others, I’m often struck by how what I perceive is also a reflection of myself. This work explores that mirroring—how we encounter our own interior through the surface of another.

To hold this idea, I was drawn to a material that is both quiet and reflective. The espresso machine, with its polished chrome surface, becomes a literal and symbolic mirror—absorbing and returning its environment. It acts as a stand-in for the human condition: responsive, reflective, and shaped by what surrounds it.

The buttons within the composition represent aspects of the self I am actively examining: mortality, the outsourcing of critical thinking to AI, overconsumption, the search for love outside oneself, lethargy, comparison to unattainable ideals, attachment to youth, and the pull toward instant gratification. Each element becomes a point of inquiry—both personal and collective.

This work is part of the Chromo Series, where each piece continues to explore these facets through reflective surfaces and embodied experience.
